Fitness
Through movement, students develop feasible strategies for controlling stress, hyperactivity, and negative thought patterns. Holistic health, nutrition and proper diet are taught.

Classes are designed to enhance students’ self-confidence and cultural awareness while reinforcing traditional values and self discipline.

Academic
This component includes math, reading and writing tutorial programs as well as basic computer technology and financial planning. Report cards and progress reports are required for advancing through the program.

What is the Youth Empowerment System?

 Our system includes the following components:

Cultural
 The cultural empowerment area is designed to increase students’ self-esteem and cultural understanding. In classes students learn:

  • Kiswahili, Zulu, Yoruba terminology
  • History-students learn about the origin of ancient civilizations and their code of honor. Students also learn about Afrikan and African-American heroes and heroines.

Emotional and Mental
The best self-defense is learning how to make good choices, and avoid dangerous situations. Students learn how to control themselves emotionally and psychologically. Anger and stress management techniques are taught in a structured yet nurturing environment. Students develop a sense of responsibility.
